To be an effective instrument to the Government Endeavour to cultivate national harmony in Jaffna Peninsula through uplifting the physical quality of life and spiritual value of the people.

Forward Maintenance Area (North)

In view with facilitating logistics matters of battalions and establishments through the coordination of logistics units under Security Forces (Jaffna), the Forward Maintenance Area (North) was established on 18 June 1995 at the precincts of Cement Factory in Kankesanthurai under the guidance and directions of Brigadier J P A Jayawardena USP. The establishment was shifted and reestablished in Miliddy area after the conclusion of the war against terrorism. Presently, Brigadier R L C Fernando aato performs duties as the Commander of Forward Maintenance Area (North).

Ranmuthuge Lakshman Chandrasiri Fernando born on 11 October 1965, is a proud product of Ananda College Colombo. After completing higher studies he enlisted to the Regular Force of Sri Lanka Army as a Cadet Officer on 31 March 1986, and followed the basic military training at Sri Lanka Military Academy. He was commissioned in the rank of 2/Lieutenant on 21 February 1987 and posted to Sri Lanka Ordnance Corps in Panagoda.

Brigadier Lakshman Fernando during his career span of 33 years serving in both operational and non operational areas has held many instructional, staff and command appointments in which he dedicated and committed to serve the nation with much determination.

Being a officer of Sri Lanka Ordnance Corps, he has attended and followed a number of local and foreign courses that motivated him to achieve the heights of his military career. He was awarded with several services medals and was promoted to the rank of Brigadier on 17 March 2014.

Brigadier Lakshman Fernando assumed duties as the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (North) on 15 August 2019. He is married and is a proud father of three children.
