The Sri Lanka Nippon Educational and Cultural Centre (SLNEC) in collaboration with Sri Lanka Army organized an awarding of scholarships and distribution of stationary items for needy students in Jaffna District on Saturday, 27 March 2021 at an occasion held at the Navathkuli Temple in Jaffna. 12 Students from Jaffna Navathkuli who have excelled in studies were awarded with monthly scholarships and given with stationeries sufficient for the upcoming year. Vouchers of School Shoes were also distributed to these needy students.
The event was organized under the patronage of the Secretary General of SLNEC, Ven. Meegahathenne Chandrasiri Thero along with the Commander Security Force - Jaffna, Major General Priyantha Perera. Commander 523 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Nissanka Samaradiwakara joined the distribution ceremony as the Chief Guest at the Navathkuli Temple premises. Commanding Officer 12 Gemunu Watch Lieutenant Colonel Tusith Ganage assisted the conduct of the distribution ceremony.
A number of Buddhist monks, Senior Army Officers, Officers, and Parents of the students were present during the occasion.
