The troops of 51 Infantry Division organized a series of events in connection with the 72nd anniversary of the Army under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 51 Division, Major General Deepal Pussella on 4th October 2021.
Accordingly, a tree planting campaign along the Jaffna Karainagar road were carried out by the troops of 14th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment under 512 Brigade. A total of 100 Karanda and Kubuk saplings were planted under this programme. The idea behind the tree plantation campaign was to propagate the message that planting trees helps to maintain an eco-friendly road network that reduces pollution and improves green ambience.
Then the troops 11th Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry of 513 Brigade, donated Coconut and Jack plants to the civilians of Chullipuram village at the Victoria College premises. Meanwhile, troops of 16 Gemunu Watch of 513 Brigade marked the army day by serving lunch for elders living in Kalvalai Elders’ Day Care Center. During the programme, 50 elderly inmates received a sumptuous lunch and gift parcels containing essential needs.
Brigade Commanders of 512 and 513 Infantry Brigades, Commanding Officers and senior officers of respective areas were also present the events by adhering the health formalities.
All these events were planned under the overall guidance of Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu.
