I
Started Palm Reading as a Hobby [Updated
:: 2011-03-06 15:32:28 Hours] People
are born to the world with some skills. Majority use those skills
for the benefit of the world, serving the mankind and the nature.
CIMIC team
this week met a senior Jaffna citizen who has learnt an interesting
science, astrology. Mr. Kanthaiya Thanabalasingham started learning
the art of reading others’ future at his young age. Born in 1937
at Alavai North, a charming village close to Point Pedro (PPD),
little Thanabalasingham received his primary education at famous
Hartley College in PPD and entered St. John’s College, Jaffna
where he completed his Senior School Certificate (SSC) examination.
In 1962, he
joined Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Jaffna branch as an Insurance
Organizer which blessed him with opportunity to travel in many
parts of the peninsula and meet people. While enjoying his new
career, young Thanabalasingham took an interest in learning the
science of palm reading.

“I first started learning palm reading as a hobby. The art of telling
others’ future was so fascinating that I continued learning it further.”
In 2010 he retired
from Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation to engage in palm and horoscope
reading fulltime. Very conversant in both Tamil and English languages,
Mr. Thanabalasingham repents for not getting a chance to work other
parts of the country.
According to
him, before 10.00 a.m. is the best time for anyone to get his or
her palm read.
“One day in
1977 I happened to meet Mr. J.R. Jayawardane at Parliamentary premises.
I told him that he would become the President of the country,” he
remembered the past.
“Brig. Larry
Wijeratne was a good friend of mine. I warned him to be careful
because I saw he was not safe,” he lamented.
He
is a father of four daughters and four sons. Mr. Thanabalasingham
has read palms of many foreigners when he visited Switzerland to
see one of his daughters.
Mr. Thanabalasingham
still remembers his beloved wife Mrs. Parameshwari Thanabalasingham,
who passed away last year, with much love and affection.
Wishing him
good luck and long life to serve more and more people, we left his
beautiful house in the evening. You can contact this charming person
