Security Force - Jaffna, for the first time, the General Meeting
of Coconut Growers Association of Sri Lanka was held on 26 May
2019 at Thalsevana Army Holiday Resort.
The Officials of the Coconut Growers Association and the Senior
Staff Officers of the Headquarters discussed the feasibilities
and benefits of initiating the project to plant 100000 Coconut
Seedlings in Jaffna District. Further, they highlighted the progress
of the ongoing Coconut Plantation Project that 37000 Coconut Seedlings
have been planted in 578 acres in the Peninsula. The commitment
of the Sri Lanka Army in this project was highly commended by
the Officials of Sir Lanka Coconut Development Board and specially
by the people in Jaffna Peninsula.
The discussion was headed by the Brigadier General Staff at Security
Force Headquarters Jaffna, and Mr. Jayantha Wikkramasinghe, the
President of Coconut Growers Association, Dr. Nihal Silva, Mr.
Ranjith Dias, Professor Mohondas, representing the Jaffna Coconut
Growers Association were present at the meeting.
