The Noblest Buddhists Religious Activity of Katina Pooja held at Navatkuly Sri Samiddhi Sumana Vihara

Hundreds of Buddhists from North and South participated at the Cheevara Pooja (ritual offering of new Robes) and Alms Giving at Sri Sumiddhi Sumana Vihara, Navatkuly in Jaffna. The event was held for the fifth consecutive year since the establishment of Navatkuly Sri Samiddhi Sumana Vihara in 2012. The Perahera was demonstrated on 25 October 2017 evening with the participation of civilians and military personnel. The Dhamma sermon and other related religious activities were conducted by the Chief Incumbent, Ven. Hanvelle Rathanasiri Thera. The Pinkama was arranged by the Sinhalese who live in Navatkuly village with the assistance of 523 Brigade.
The Katina perehera consisted of Sinhala and Hindu cultural events and was followed by whole night Prith Chanting. Alms giving for 61 Monks was held on following day morning.

On the directives of Major General Aruna Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding 52 Division, battalions serving under 523 Brigade of Allarai provided meals for all devotees who took part in the event.
