Commander of the Army made his Maiden Field Visit to Headquarters Security Force (Jaffna)

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayaka, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army made his maiden field visit to Headquarters Security Force, Jaffna after assuming the office as the 22 Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.

The visiting Commander of the Army was received at the Palaly Airport by Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Force (Jaffna), Brigadier Indrajith Bandara, Brigadier General Staff HQ SF (J) and Brigadier Ajith Elwatta, Brigadier Admin and Quartering HQ SF (J).

In accordance with the military traditions troops of the 10 Field Engineer Regiment accorded a Guard Turnout at the entrance of the HQ SF (J) and a formal Guard of Honour to the visiting Commander.

Shortly after the military formalities, the visiting Commander planted a 'Mango' sapling (Mangifera Indica) at the Headquarter premises to mark his first visit to SF HQ (J). Subsequently, Commander addressed the troops followed by All Ranks Tea at the Other Ranks’ Mess. Thereafter Commander Security Force (Jaffna) conducted a short briefing at the main conference hall to acquaint the security situation in the area.

Thereafter, Commander of the Army participated in the 'Felicitation Ceremony organized for students who secured 9 'A' Passes at the GCE O/L Examination 2016 in Jaffna Peninsula, at the Weerashingham Hall, Jaffna.
