Headquarters Security Force Jaffna Celebrates its 21st Anniversary

A series of military and CIVIC-oriented programmes were organized from 16th to 22nd June 2017 to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Headquarters Security Force (Jaffna). Anniversary celebrations were held giving prominence to religious functions and community welfare activities on the guidance of Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Force, Jaffna.

Religious observances commenced on Friday (16) morning with the Hindu Pooja at the Maviddapuram Sri Skantha Temple blessing on the SF (J) flag and all ranks serving under HQ SF(J).

On the same day evening, officers and other ranks took part in the Islam Prayers at the Jumma Mosque in Jaffna town. The Catholic Mass was held at the St. Mary's Church, Jaffna on Sunday 18th June 2017. A special Bodhi Pooja was organized at the Palaly Bo Maluwa on the evening of 18th June 2017 to bless on the SF (J) flag and all ranks serving in SF (J) area of responsibility.

On Monday 19th June 2017, a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour were accorded to Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Force (Jaffna) by the troops of 10 Field Engineer Regiment. Later, the Commander SF (J) planted a sapling of Mango (Mangifera Indica) in order to remember the 21st anniversary celebration. Afterwards, the Commander SF (J) visited the patients who are undergoing medical treatments at the Army Base Hospital, Palaly. Subsequently, the Commander SF (J) participated in the All Ranks' lunch organized at the Other Ranks' Mess of HQ SF (J).

In the evening of 19th June 2017, the Commander SF (J) paid floral tribute to the fallen war heroes at the ceremony organized to remember the supreme sacrifice made by security forces on behalf of the motherland.

On 20th June 2017, a blood donation campaign was organized by HQ SF (J) in liaison with the Blood Bank of the Teaching Hospital, Jaffna. More than 175 Army personnel serving in the SF (J) area of responsibility donated blood. Doctor T. Vis Vethithan, Doctor A. Arangan and medical staff extended their assistance to conduct the blood donation successfully.

A Shramadana Campaign was also organized on 22 June 2017 by the troops of HQ SF (J) in order to clean the Tellippalai Cancer Hospital premises and the anniversary celebrations culminated on Friday (23) with a grand musical extravaganza held at the playground, Palaly.
