six Officer Cadets from Intake 83 of Sri Lanka Military Academy
paid a visit to Headquarters Security Force Jaffna - HQSF (J) on
19th and 20th January 2017. The visit was scheduled as a part of
their training curriculum.
On arrival to the HQ SF (J), officer cadets were warmly welcomed
by Lieutenant Colonel Indika Mendis, General Staff Officer I (Operations
& Training) and Major Vipula Bandara General Staff Officer II
(Training), HQSF (J).
Later, a presentation on "Role and Responsibility of SF (J)
and Military Assistance in Post Conflicts Scenario" was conducted
by Colonel Udaya Kumara, Colonel General Staff Officer HQ SF (J).
During the question and answering session, Commander SF (J) Major
General Mahesh Senanayaka briefed present situation and the efforts
which have been taken by the military to develop livelihood of the
people and how military support to enhance government Reconciliation
Mechanism in Jaffna Peninsula. End of the session, Intake 83 Officer
Cadets presented a memento to the Commander SF (J) as a token of
appreciation on their visit to HQ SF (J).
Afterwards, they visited "Nallinakkapuram" Village (Keeramalai
Hosing Project) which was constructed by Army and recently handover
to the land less Internally Displace people in Jaffna. Major Priyanka
Kankanige, Brigade Major 513 Brigade briefed on "Importance
of the Keeramalai Project and how its lead to Reconciliation process"
and Lieutenant Rasika Samarasinghe ESR briefed on "Technical
aspects of the construction work".
As the last leg of the day’s itinerary, the Officer Cadets participated
in an evening session at HQ SF (J) Officers' Mess and interacted
Commander SF (J).
