52 Div was raised in PALALY on 24 August 95 and the Div HQ was relocated at VARANI after the reversals experienced in year 2000. On 08 January 2014, the Div HQ was shifted to the present location, MIRISUVIL. The Div comprises of three Bdes. 521 Bde at VALLEI, 522 Bde at VIDATHTHALPALEI and 523 Bde at ALLARAI.

Major General Sena Waduge assumed duties as General Officer Commanding 52 DIV on 07 May 2019. He was born on 06 October 1966 and he is a proud product of Hambantota Thissamaharama Maha Vidyalaya and enlisted to regular force as an Officer Cadet to KDA Intake 4 on 02 June 1986. After completing academic and military training at Kotalawala Defence University and Sri lanka Military Academy Diyatalawa, he was commissioned in rank of Second Lieutentant and he was posted to 5th Battalion of Gemunu Watch in 1988 and served almost all the operational and non-operational areas of the island wide.
Major General Waduge has held the following important Command, Staff and Instructor appointments in his military career way to the rank of Major General.

He has served as a Staff Officer at the Headquarters of MINUSTAH, UN Mission in Haiti.
